Moving Abroad – tips from this side of the pond

Moving Abroad – tips from this side of the pond

I’m hoping my handful of loyal readers and commenters can help me out here.

Rachel has a great post this week about how you can live on roughly $30K in Belize. She somewhat jokingly added that she and the family are considering the move.

Since a fair share of my readers made the big leap to living in Israel, I’m hoping you can help me craft a post with your tips. What did you learn from your move? What advice would you give others? Whether it’s specific to Israel (bring Ziploc bags) or general (save your small appliances and buy a transformer), I’d love it if you could post them in the comments. If you have a blog of your own and would rather post there, please post a link in the comments so we can all learn from one another.

Thanks again!

  1. I dutifully bought Ziploc bags with me, only to find them available in Supersal and Mega – what am I missing? The things I have trouble finding are clothes pegs! I’m in Eilat and I wish I’d brought a lot more lightweight summer clothes and crop pants and fewer full-length pants, long-sleeved tops and jackets/shawls.

Most useful things I brought were power strips; I can plug in 4 UK appliances and I only need one plug converter.
